Dr Bozkurt is an advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation cardiologist. She is the Mary and Gordon Cain Chair in Cardiology and Professor of Medicine, Senior Dean of Faculty at Baylor College of Medicine Houston, Texas, USA, where she is also the Associate Director of the Cardiovascular Research Institute. Dr Bozkurt is a Past President of the Heart Failure Society of America. She is the Editor in Chief of JACC: Heart Failure, Chair of the AHA/ACC Task Force for Performance Metrics, Vice Chair of the AHA/ACC Heart Failure Guidelines Writing Group, and past Chair of the AHA/ACCF Task Force for Data Standards.
1. Define the components of guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) for patients for heart failure  and review the evidence supporting early initiation of GDMT into clinical practice to improve patient outcomes.
