Dr. Sarah Jarvis MBE, FRCGP

General Practitioner (GP), medical broadcaster and visiting professor of general practice
University of Huddersfield, UK

Sarah trained at Cambridge and Oxford universities and became a partner in an inner city general practice in 1990. She was a GP trainer for 25 years until 2017. She is an active medical writer and broadcaster and is the resident doctor for BBC Radio 2 and ITV lunchtime news. She also appears regularly on UK television and radio programmes including Channel 5, the One Show on BBC One, Good Morning Britain, LBC and Radio 5 live.

From 2017-22, she was clinical director of the website Patient.info, which provides patient health education to over 120 million people a year worldwide. She now acts as a clinical consultant for them.

Dr. Jarvis is past chair of the Health Care Committee of HEART UK, the cholesterol charity, and is a member of the advisory board for the British Journal of Cardiology. She is also past Chair of the Women’s Taskforce at the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and Women’s Health Spokesperson for the RCGP.

She has also authored Diabetes for Dummies (now in its third edition), Pregnancy for Dummies, Children's Health for Dummies, Women's Health for Life and The Welcome Visitor, a book on the ethics of dying co-authored with the broadcaster John Humphrys.

Sarah was appointed an Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the New Year’s Honours list in December 2017 for services to public understanding of health and general practice.

In February 2021, Sarah was appointed Visiting Professor of General Practice at the University of Huddersfield.

Dr. Robert F. Kushner

Professor of Medicine and Medicine Education, Division of Endocrinology, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, IL., USA

After finishing a residency in Internal Medicine at Northwestern University, Dr. Kushner went on to complete a postgraduate fellowship in Clinical Nutrition and earned a master’s degree in clinical nutrition and nutritional biology from the University of Chicago, IL. Dr. Kushner is past President of the Obesity Society, the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, and the American Board of Physician Nutrition Specialists (ABPNS), and a founder and first Chair of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM). Dr. Kushner has authored over 250 original articles, reviews, books and book chapters covering nutrition, obesity, and medical education, and is an internationally recognized expert on the care of patients with overweight or obesity.
 
He is author/editor of multiple books; current books include Nutrition and Bariatric Surgery (CRC Press, 2015), Lifestyle Medicine: A Manual for Clinical Practice (Springer, 2016), Creating a Lifestyle Medicine Center (Springer, 2020), Six Factors to Fit – Weight Loss that Works for You! (Eat Right Press, 2020), and Primary Care: Evaluation and Management of Obesity (Wolters Kluwer, 2022).
